John became New Hope's senior pastor in November, 2008. He is a North Carolina native, born and raised in Fayetteville, who graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill. John was born to Christian parents who belonged to a small Presbyterian congregation, and his faith in Jesus was constantly nourished by these two families. He met his future wife, Amy, while they were both members of Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship at UNC. They married in January, 1993, a year and a half before John enrolled at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary near Boston, MA. After graduating in 1999, the Lindsays moved to Hopewell, VA, where John served as the pastor of West Hopewell Presbyterian Church for nine years. John and Amy have four children: Preston, Sarah, Caleb, and Nathan. John greatly enjoys putting together one-on-one outings for each. Aside from his studies in theology, John loves reading works of history, keeping up with politics and pop culture, and exploring issues concerning science and faith. He is an avid follower of the Tar Heels, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, and New England Patriots.
When asked when he became a christian Gerald says, "I know God starting working in my heart as a young child, and I’m sure Jesus is my Lord and Savior now, almost 50 years later. Exactly how and when God did all the things He did in between (and continues to do), I’m still learning about that!" Although Gerald had been a dedicated volunteer and lay youth leader for over 20 years, a few years ago he felt that the Lord was calling him to pursue ordination and serve the church while working his 'day job' on a part-time basis. He then enrolled in Reformed Theological Seminary and will be ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America in April. Gerald and his wife, Lee Ann, have three daughters- Allison, Ashley, and Aleah. Gerald loves to play tennis, basketball, sing, warm weather, and spending time with Lee Ann and the girls.
God used Clay's youth pastor in High School to start calling Clay to student ministry. Clay, a Florida native, went to Covenant College and earned his undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies before returning to Florida to attend Reformed Theological Seminary. During his time at Seminary, Clay served as the middle school student ministry director of his Church. Clay graduated from RTS in May 2009, and came to New Hope just a couple months later as the Director of Student Ministries. Clay married his wife, Rhoda, in May of 2004. He and Rhoda are the proud owners of the best dog in the world- Trooper. Clay loves to spend time with Rhoda and Trooper, snowboarding, jiu jitsu, hiking, running, and backpacking.

Brad says “At 18 a friend asked me if I knew Jesus. I said no. He asked if I would like to know Jesus. I said yes if it is possible. He shared some scripture with me and recommendations on how to pray, but I simply prayed an agnostics prayer….’Jesus, God, Father or whatever your name is, if what Duane is saying is true I do want forgiveness and a living relationship with the living God of the universe. What Duane said was true and everything has been 180 degrees different since then.” Brad and his wife Vicki visited Redeemer Church when they moved to Winston-Salem in 1990. Brad reflects that his visit to Redeemer “was the first time I had ever sat under good reformed teaching and preaching and absolutely loved it. It really set Vicki and me free from years of trying to be good so that God would like us.” After a couple of years of leading a small group, Brad was elected an elder, and ten years later he joined ‘a band of brothers’ to plant a new church in the western suburbs of Winston Salem. Brad has three grown children, two great son-in-laws, and soon to be five super grandkids. He enjoys reading good books, playing golf, and time with his grandkids. But he enjoys most being with the love of his youth, Vicki.
Although it was over 20 years ago that Brett came to saving faith in his Lord Jesus Christ, he loves that he continues to be drawn daily by His mercy. Brett and his wife Laura had been attending Redeemer Church for about four years when they felt the Lord was calling them to be part of the New Hope church plant. When asked about that time Brett says, “I was one of the 5 original members of the heavy metal band, MegaDeath (otherwise known as the original session of New Hope).” Brett is a retired Optometrist who enjoys playing music, fishing, coaching basketball, sports, and spending time with his family. Brett and Laura have three kids- Olivia, Abigail, and Spencer.

Mark McKenzie
When asked about becoming a Christian Mark says, “I feel the greatest calling to pursue God in my life came about 21 years ago when Gretchen and I were dating. Mark and Gretchen have four kids- Caitlyn, Kyle, Madeleine, and Clayton. He loves to be outside, hiking, canoeing, fishing, slalom skiing, sailing, and his new handheld GPS that his family gave him so that he always knows where he is and where he is heading.
