About Us

New Hope held its first public worship service on April 4, 1999, but that was hardly the church's birthday.  For at least three years prior, members of Redeemer Presbyterian Church had been praying and laying the groundwork for a sister-church in the Clemmons area.  They longed to see a congregation that would welcome, teach, and serve the needs of the residents of Clemmons and Lewisville, just as Redeemer had done in the Ardmore neighborhood of Winston-Salem.  In the years since that first worship service, this dream has increasingly become a reality, especially with the opening of a permanent facility in December, 2005.

Clemmons and Lewisville are primarily "bedroom communities," and like many such towns, they have a shortage of space for local events and activities.  New Hope therefore constructed a facility that would also serve as a community center – a place that could house local civic, recreational, and artistic events as well as our worship services.  Since 2005, New Hope's facility has been utilized for basketball and volleyball leagues, after-school care, community theatre productions, and painting and quilting exhibitions.  In the coming years, we want to continue to serve Clemmons and Lewisville by offering our building for even more and varied types of events.

We realize, though, that the greatest service we can offer to our community is the opportunity to know and follow Jesus Christ.  Like every church, New Hope is a community within a community – a group of people who, while they live, work and play in Clemmons and Lewisville, strive to know Jesus and to follow in His steps.  To know Jesus, we turn to the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments.  To follow Jesus, we turn to each other and to our neighbors, in order that we may love and serve as Jesus has first loved and served us.

Want more information about the specific ways we strive to know and follow Jesus?  Start by clicking on the first subheading, labeled "Our Method."  This page describes the factors that our leaders consider when designing our programs and activities.  Each of those factors is then explained in further detail on the pages labeled "Our Mission," "Our Emphases," "Our Values," "Our Vehicles," and "Our Vision."
